God bless us, every one.

This has been a strange year for me. (Perhaps I'll elaborate in future posts.) I have never enjoyed Christmas. I have always read each Christmas Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and I think wished without much expectation that I would have a redemption event and find happiness from some helpful spooks, like Scrooge did.

For some ethereal, unexplainable reason this year, I have a positive attitude about Christmas. My partner has decorated our office like Ho Ho Hell - Two Christmas trees, wreaths on the three outside doors, garland and lights on all the mantles and stair railings and outside bannisters, candle-lights in every window. And I love it. It's cheery, and it's happy. I even put on some Kenny G Christmas music on the CD during a staff meeting today. I just don't understand me.

Well, I'll go with the flow. God bless us, every one.

I too for many years thought that holidays were stupid/pointless/phoney/materialistic/waste of time, etc. Then one day Black Holly, my part-time full-time girlfriend explained to me that I had it all wrong. "There are way too few reasons to celebrate in this short life to pass on any opportunity especially like those holidays that are made for celebration, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Festivis, birthdays, July 4th and so on." "Even with relatives one can have a good time if one tries but you have to tell yourself in advance that you, Bly, are going to have a good time no matter what." With words such as these (and more-as she was mad at me about this), I was completely persuaded and have been enjoying the holidays ever since. In order to celebrate one must have the proper attitude of having and creating fun not only for others but also and expecially for yourself for if you are having a good time it will rub off on the people around you. Happiness like fear is contagious.

In dark times such as these, one must involve oneself in celebration at every opportunity. Hang up the lights, crank out the music, get out the nog....

Party on Mr. Elu

In times of darkness, one of the best things one can do IMHO is to party.
